The American Red Cross Jr. Lifeguard course is designed to teach water safety skills as well as introduce youth to the duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard. This course will not certify anyone as a lifeguard, only build a foundation of knowledge, attitude and skills in preparation of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course.
Daily Itinerary:
- Attendance and summary of daily activities.
- Stroke Work/Water Rescue Skills
- Class will take a break for 30 minutes allowing participants to rehydrate and have a snack.
- Participants will begin their shadowing activities to include the slide area and lifeguard stations (Jr. Lifeguards will shadow actual lifeguards at stations to develop surveillance skills. Jr. Lifeguards will not be involved in any emergencies.)
- Regroup and Reflect on daily experiences with Q&A’s
