1. DOES THE SWIMMING SWAN HAVE A PERMANENT FACILITY IN WHICH SWIM LESSONS ARE TAUGHT?
No, we do not have a specific swimming pool we use. Our Swim Instructors and Lifeguards travel directly to you and can teach at any pool of your choosing. We can teach at any of the following: backyard pools, community pools, hotel pools, country club pools and public pools (if permitted).
2. DOES YOUR COMPANY HAVE INSURANCE?
Yes, we have a $2,000,000 commercial general liability insurance policy that are entire staff is covered under. Only swim lesson packages that have been purchased and scheduled with our office staff and through our website are covered under The Swimming Swan‘s insurance.
3. I WOULD LIKE LESSONS DONE AT MY COMMUNITY POOL AND MY HOA NEEDS PROOF OF INSURANCE. IS THIS POSSIBLE THROUGH THE SWIMMING SWAN?

4. WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS OVER RECREATIONAL SWIM LESSONS?
Each swim client we take on will be familiarized with their everyday aquatic setting because safety is our top priority. One-on-one instruction enables the Instructor to give undivided attention to the swimmer and cater to their ability so that they learn as efficiently as possible. Also, less distractions!
1. WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOUR SWIM INSTRUCTORS HAVE?
Our team consists of Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors (WSI), USA Certified Swim Coaches and/or Certified Lifeguards with extensive backgrounds in swimming and teaching children. All Swimming Instructors are certified in CPR/First Aid and have gone through a professional background screening and evaluation prior to employment.
2. WHAT METHOD OF TEACHING DO YOUR INSTRUCTORS USE?
Our Swim Instructors teach lessons in a non-aggressive manner. We follow the American Red Cross criteria and further, individualize our swimming lessons based on the age and ability of each swimmer. Our goal is to reach a level of trust with each participant so that they feel comfortable and at ease in learning the necessary skills to improve their aquatic safety. We do not dunk children or force them to complete a swim skill they are not ready for. We aim to create a teachable and fun atmosphere, where the swimmer is not dreading their next swim lesson.
3. DO YOUR INSTRUCTORS TEACH AT THEIR OWN POOLS?
Normally, our team travels to you. Some of our Swim Instructors however do have access to pools and can accommodate requests. Just let us know when you register for swim lessons and we will do our best to accommodate.
LESSON PACKAGE DETAILS
1. HOW AM I ASSIGNED MY SWIM INSTRUCTOR?
We match your preferred schedule, age and ability to a Swim Instructor in your area with the most experience for your needs. It is most beneficial when you remain with one Instructor and their specific teaching style throughout your swimming lessons to build trust and knowledge of your individual needs. *If you are unsatisfied with your Instructor, you can change Instructor‘s at any time pending Instructor availability.
2. DO YOU OFFER A TRIAL SWIM LESSON?
No, we do not offer trial swimming lessons, however we do offer our clients a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If after the first swim lesson you are unsatisfied with your Swim Instructor, we will either re-start your entire swimming lesson package with another Instructor or issue you a pro-rated refund on any unused lessons.
3. DO YOU OFFER A LEARN-TO-SWIM GUARANTEE?
No, there is no guarantee that you or your child will learn in X amount of lessons because each participant learns at their own pace. We strive to teach without instilling any anxiety or stress and we never force a participant to learn a skill they are not ready for. We request the help of parents in encouraging children with their skills, for instance practicing blowing bubbles or getting their face wet during bath time. The more practice with these swimming skills, the better and quicker they can learn to overcome any fears they have.
4. WHAT’S A GOOD AGE FOR MY CHILD TO BEGIN SWIM LESSONS?
Children can begin lessons as early as six months of age in our parent & child class. Normally, children 3 years of age and older are able to learn self-rescue skills without the support of a parent with our teaching method. Again, each child learns at their own pace and some children will need more instruction than others.
5. AM I REQUIRED TO BE IN THE WATER DURING MY CHILD’S SWIM LESSONS?
If you are signing up for a parent & child class, you are required to be in the water with your child during the swim lesson. For ages 3 and up, we recommend you are not in the water because most children become distracted and it takes away from the learning of the lesson.
6. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE MY CHILD TO LEARN HOW TO SWIM?
Children ages three and up normally learn how to swim on their own at a range of 8 to 16 lessons depending on their ability, disability, past experiences in the water and the frequency of their lesson plan.
7. HOW MANY SWIM LESSONS PER WEEK SHOULD SOMEONE ENROLL?
A minimum of two swimming lessons per week at 45 minutes each lesson is advised to improve and progress on previously taught skill sets. We do offer accelerated lesson packages of 4-5 times per week. Please let us know your preferred schedule and we will do our best to accommodate.
8. HOW MANY SWIMMERS CAN BE IN ONE LESSON?
Most of our swim lessons are taught privately one-on-one. We do offer semi-private and group lessons which can be taught as back-to-back lessons or in small groups where the swimmers are learning together. Our motto is – the more swimmers in a group, the more of a discount you get on our rates.
9. DO YOU RECOMMEND FLOATATION DEVICES?
We don’t recommend arm floats; arm floats can slip off or the child might venture to an unsafe depth where they are far from reaching the wall. If you are researching floatation devices, we advise using a Coast Guard approved life jacket.
10. WHAT POOL TEMPERATURE IS RECOMMENDED FOR SWIM LESSONS?
We recommend the pool temperature at 84-85 degrees. Young children tend to like the pool warmer. For adaptive aquatics swimmers, a pool temperature of 88-90 degrees is best.
1. WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
All cancelled Aquatics Classes as well as Private Lifeguarding must be done at least 24 hours in advance to the Lesson/Lifeguarding or forfeit the Lesson/Lifeguarding. Our Swim Instructors and Lifeguards are extremely busy with multiple clients and we want to make sure they utilize their time efficiently and are given proper notification.
2. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT’S STORMING AT THE TIME OF MY LESSON?
Any swimming lessons cancelled due to weather will be rescheduled when both the client and Instructor are available. If more than half your lesson is completed and weather necessitates a reduction in lesson time, we will add additional time onto another lesson to make sure you are credited for any lost time. When in doubt, don’t go out. Stay safe!
3. WHAT IF A CHILD IS SICK AND IS IN A GROUP LESSON?
Children that are ill should not participate in their swim lessons until they are feeling well. Please let your instructor know ahead of the lesson so they can coordinate properly. Depending on the child’s age and ability, the Instructor is able to add time onto their next lesson(s) to make-up for a sick day or the Instructor can schedule a make-up class for this child. We will bill a commute expense of $7 for the Instructor‘s time and gas expense for this lone lesson.
4. WHAT HAPPENS IF MY EVENT IS CANCELLED AND I NO LONGER NEED A LIFEGUARD(S)?
A minimum of 24 hours cancellation is needed for a full refund.
5. WHAT IS YOUR SWIM LESSON REFUND POLICY?
Unused lessons can be pro-rated a refund at any time. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction.

Additional commute expenses may be added if our Swim Instructors and/or Lifeguards need to travel distances of more than 15 miles one way. Commute expenses can range from $5 to $10 per lesson. We will do our very best to locate an instructor/lifeguard in your area to avoid this surcharge.
1. WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept Visa, Master card, Discover, American Express and Pay Pal. Our Swimming Instructors do not accept cash payments.
2. WHEN WILL I BE CHARGED FOR MY SWIMMING LESSON PACKAGE?
Payment in full is due when an Instructor is booked for your swimming lesson package. All lessons within your package are paid for in advance which locks you in to your Instructors calendar. This is especially helpful during our peak summer season to make sure they are able to accommodate your request throughout the duration of your package. Our Swim Instructors are very busy and we strive for efficiency in scheduling so we may service as many of our incoming client requests as possible.
3. WHEN WILL I HEAR FROM MY INSTRUCTOR?
Once payment is made and your schedule is confirmed, your Instructor will call you within 24 hours to introduce themselves and confirm your start date. Instructors do not receive your contact information until payment has been made.
4. I REGISTERED WITH A GROUP OF SWIMMERS HOWEVER NOW ITS JUST ME. WHAT DO I DO?
Let us know and we will readjust the rate based on the appropriate number of swimmers.
