South Florida may not seem like the ideal place to be when the summer time hits. The wicked high temperature, mixed with high level of humidity, can have anyone wanting to stay indoors in the AC all day! We know you want to get out of that house with your little ones, but still need to be able stay cool. It is vital that you and your family learn proper ways to stay safe in the water in order to enjoy all that Broward County, Florida has to offer. Swim lessons are the best way to feel confident in the safety of your entire family! Luckily, Broward County has many ways to beat the heat with your family this summer.

Let’s start with the multiple beaches! Fort Lauderdale is home to 23 miles of beaches, much of which are walking distance from local restaurants and shops. This chic beach stop is fun for both day and night. There is no better way to spend a summer afternoon than packing up the cooler and hitting the beach! When the sun gets too hot, we jump in the ocean to cool off. Knowing your young children and toddlers are strong swimmers makes enjoying the beach even easier!

We adore Hollywood beach, home to the two and a half mile Broadwalk found just along the sand. Here you can bike, stroll, run, or rollerblade your way along the beach, then stop for a dip to cool off. There are cafes and shops all along the boardwalk, making it a fun afternoon for the whole family. After hours of playing and swimming at the beach, The city of Hollywood offers a local trolley you and your young children can hop on to head to the Arts Park, in Young Circle, where there is something going on almost every night. Whether its live music or movies on the big screen, it sure makes the summer nights fun.

We can’t talk about Hollywood without mentioning TY Park. Specifically Castaway Island. Castaway Island is a water playground with two different pools, one specifically for children 5 and under and also a pool with a waterfall. They have concession stands and umbrellas up for grabs. Paired with the gorgeous park surrounding it, it’s a great summer day activity to take the kids to, if they are able to enjoy the pool by being a safe swimmer. It is important to give your kids proper swim instruction before attending any local pool. TY Park also has boat rentals.

For the ultimate low key beach in Broward County look no further than the beautiful Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Lauderdale-By-The-Sea has an incredibly charming beach village vibe you will not be able to resist. This adorable beach town happens to be one of the few locations in the state of Florida where the the natural coral reef system is close enough to swim to from the shore line, for snorkeling or diving. Instilling your children with life saving swimming technique makes enjoying these local gem spots so much more doable, and safe. Here you can also enjoy live music every Friday night, all summer long.

We can not talk about Broward County beaches without mentioning Deerfield Beach. Surrounding by local parks, Deerfield beach is a bit off the upbeat path that a lot of South Florida Beaches follow. If you consider yourself more of an adventurous family, you can spend a day at Ski Rixen, one of America's first cable water ski parks. Broward County is home to many beautiful beaches, all of which can not be enjoyed without proper water safety technique for swimmers of all ages.

Broward County has about three hundred miles of waterways that are navigable by boat. Boating is a very popular and wonderful recreational activity to do here in Broward County. This is why Ft.
