Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Position in San Diego, CA

The Swimming Swan is excited to begin hiring for the upcoming Summer 2022 Season. We’re looking for experienced Lifeguard Instructors (LGI) and Lifeguard Instructor Trainers (LGI-T) to help us prepare new and returning lifeguards in the local community. Our staff includes lifeguards working for both private clients and at scheduled facilities. All are required to maintain their skills by participating in, at minimum, monthly in-services and recertification courses as needed. 

As an LGI/LGI-T, your role includes:

• Teaching two Lifeguard certification courses each month at our contracted facilities. Each course will equate to roughly 20 hours (weekend) and follow Red Cross standards
• Conducting monthly in-service training for local, independent lifeguards. More in-service training may be required depending on community needs
  • This includes pre-season training for local staff. Virtual and in-person training is required
• Working directly with the County Manager to manage local lifeguard leads and schedules
• Potentially aid in the interviewing/hiring of new lifeguards

Some travel may be required. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of a background/reference check and drug screening.

PAY RATES

• $30 hourly

BONUSES

• Gas compensation – $0.58 per mile after the first 15 miles (per trip)
• Referral bonuses of up to $150
• Bonuses offered for positive online reviews

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age with a High school Diploma or equivalent. 
• Current and valid ARC or equivalent certification including but not limited to: Lifeguard, CPR, First  Aid, AED
• Current LGIT Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Certification
• Current LGI Lifeguard Instructor Certification 
• 5+ year(s) lifeguard experience in a leadership role preferred. 
• Ability to pass pre-employment verbal, swimming, and in-water skills test
• Flexible schedule required
• Strong customer service background preferred
