OBS

Out of the Boat began in 2004 when the founder began teaching swim lessons for an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. OBS now serves two orphanages in Tijuana and has grown into several aquatic programs, including a water safety camp, swim lessons, surf lessons and surf retreats for the children they serve.

They have been working with the refugee community since 2013, building confidence through swimming lessons and have also teamed up with the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation to provide a “day at the beach,” to the less fortunate, through their Bridge to the Beach program.

This year, San Diego area swim lessons are being kicked off on Saturday, June 20 (for middle school and high school age groups) and Wednesday, August 22 (for elementary school age group).

In Mexico, swim lessons begin Monday, June 15 and annual water safety camp begins Monday, June 29th. Surfing lessons and retreats run year round.
