Summer’s in South Florida can bring on brutally hot temperatures! The kids are out of school, and you need to find ways to keep everyone entertained, busy, safe and cool! Splash pads and parks are a great way to entertain the whole family while having fun and cooling off a bit from that strong Florida sun. We love how splash parks are a great way to get your littlest ones comfortable with the water by having a blast with all these park’s interactive elements, including extensive water tables and tons of fun splashing. This helps your kids learn the water can definitely be fun, always making any transition to water instruction and formal swim lessons easier, when they are at peace with the water.
Lets start with Hollywood. Even if you are spending the day at the beach, the day is HOT! Maybe you just want to let the kids cool off without fully committing to a dunk in the ocean. The Hollywood Broadwalk is home to Charnow Park, a splash pad directly next to the ocean. This freshwater splash pad is decorated with dolphins for some extra beach fun! Hollywood’s TY Park includes the wonderful Castaway Island. More like a water park than a splash pad, it includes a large water playground, a great kiddie pool for the younger kids, a larger pool/lagoon with a waterfall and even a concession stand for snacks and drinks. It is a great way to spend a summer afternoon with the family. As always, it is important to make sure your kids are equipt with life-saving self rescue skills when enjoying the water this summer. Swim lessons in Broward county are the first way to get your kids ready to enjoy all that summer has to offer.
Plantation also has a lovely, cozy splash pad, Plantation Woods. This playground has a woods theme with not only fabulous playground equipment and covered picnic areas, but a low key splash pad, great for toddlers.
Paradise Cove in Pembroke Pines is another wonderful water park option. Paradise cove is the largest aquatics facility in the county, with fun for everyone, no matter what age. It features four five-story-tall waterslides. It also includes a water playground with interactive water play elements and three smaller waterslides, as well as a designated area for toddlers aged five and younger to enjoy, with a shallow pool and tons of interactive elements. For the older kids and even adults, Paradise cove offers a tube ride that is sure to not disappoint! Water slides can be such a fun way to enjoy the water, but not without proper swim instruction. Be sure your whole family is equipt with the skills needed to make them a strong swimmer before embarking on thrilling waterslides.
Liberty Park in Parkland includes seven acres of space with two fun playgrounds, a water play area, and one large pavilion. This park is immaculately clean and has a separate water area for toddlers. The abundance of trees provides great natural shade to help keep everyone safe from the strong sun!
If you are in Lauderhill, Tropical Splash, at the Central Broward Regional Park & Stadium is a wonderful option to spend an afternoon with your kids. Conveniently located by the exit to the turnpike off of Sunrise Boulevard, this park has three different pools. One for the older kids and one specifically for toddlers, which we love. They also have a concession stand and umbrellas for available for rent.
